So, about six weeks ago I was visiting my favorite gossip
website when I came across a question, “What’s your side hustle?”
I had none so I decided to just read what everyone else was
posting. I read post after post talking about micro jobs; something I’ve never
heard of before. A few of the posters mention how much they were making and
some even had referral links. The first part made me excited that I could make
some money with no special skill while the latter made my spidey sense tingled
and I immediately thought SCAM!!!
Overriding the spidey sense, I decided to check them out for
myself. I figured a little research couldn’t hurt so I googled everything and
dismissed any site that required me coming out of pocket; after all I was looking
to make money not spend it. I was then left with Crowdsourcing sites: Amazon
Mechanical Turk, Appen Butter Hill, ClickWorker and Lionbridge, Paid-To-Click
(PTC) sites: CashCrate, Clickstar, FusionCash and Quickrewards and Mobile Apps:
Field Agent, Gigwalk and Rewardable.
So far I’ve tried all of the above except Lionbrige, who turned
down my application and Appen who I didn’t bother to apply to; still might do
so in the future though. My experience with the others varies. I’ve made money
from Clickworker, Field Agent, Gigwalk and Rewardable. Amazon Mechanical Turk suspended
my account indefinitely five days in after running into a bad requester (more
on that in a later post) and I haven’t reached the minimum cash out for the
others.
All in all I'm enjoying this journey into micro-jobbing but I'm
also still on the lookout for more micro jobs so if anyone knows any legitimate
ones leave me a comment.
